Troubleshooting

Common problems and how to fix them. If none of these match what you are seeing, get help and include a diagnostics report.

I hit a shot but nothing shows up

  1. Right-click the GSCaddie tray icon (bottom-right of the screen, near the clock) to open the menu. Check the status line at the top.
  2. If the status says Awaiting sign-in or Sign-in expired, click the status line. GSCaddie will open the window so you can sign back in.
  3. If the status says Paused, click Resume watching.
  4. Hit a real shot, not a practice swing. Watch the status line briefly after impact. It should read Shots uploaded within a few seconds.
  5. If the shot still does not appear, send a report. The report attaches the diagnostics automatically, so include a one-line description of what happened.

For a full explanation of every status message and what each one means, see tray status messages.

My antivirus removed part of GSCaddie

The installer is code-signed, but it bundles a large unsigned background helper (gscaddie-watcher.exe) that watches your GSPro files. Because that helper is a large executable, Windows Defender and some third-party antivirus tools occasionally quarantine it on a false-positive heuristic. The tray icon will either not appear after install, or it will show a Reinstall needed status.

Fix: add an exclusion, then reinstall.

For Windows Defender:

  1. Open Windows Security, then Virus and threat protection.
  2. Under Virus and threat protection settings, click Manage settings.
  3. Scroll to Exclusions, then Add or remove exclusions, then Add an exclusion, then Folder.
  4. Paste %LOCALAPPDATA%\GSCaddieTray into the folder picker's address bar and confirm.
  5. Reinstall from gscaddie.com.

If you use a third-party antivirus, the steps differ but the idea is the same: add an exclusion for that install folder, then reinstall.

If you can tell us which AV product flagged it, include that in your report at get help. That lets us submit a false-positive report to the vendor. You can also find the full install walkthrough at install and setup.

GSPro Portal sync is not working

The GSPro Portal sync keeps your round history and club delivery metrics (club path, attack angle, face angles) up to date. If a sync has failed, the dashboard shows an action-needed banner.

  1. Right-click the GSCaddie tray icon and click Reconnect GSPro Portal...
  2. Sign in fully on the page that opens. Let the window finish and close on its own. Do not close it manually. It closes automatically once your session is confirmed.
  3. Once the window closes, right-click the tray icon and click Sync recent rounds from portal.

For more detail on the Portal connection and what it provides, see connect GSPro Portal. For a description of the portal menu items, see the tray menu.

If the sync still fails after reconnecting, send a report.

An update failed or the restart did not apply

GSCaddie downloads updates in the background and shows a Restart to apply update item in the tray menu when one is ready. If that item did not appear, or if the restart did not apply the update:

  1. Right-click the tray icon and click Check for updates. If an update is available it will download and the restart item will appear.
  2. Click Restart to apply update.
  3. If the failure repeats, reinstall from gscaddie.com. Your shots and settings live in your account, so a reinstall does not touch them. You will not need to sign in again.

If reinstalling does not fix it, send a report.

"We couldn't verify your browser" when I sign in or create an account

The sign-in, sign-up and password-reset pages run a quick automated check that you are a real person. It normally passes silently, with nothing to click. When it cannot run, you get this message instead.

  1. Refresh the page and try again. The check is single-use, so a second attempt on a stale page fails even when your password is right.
  2. If it repeats, disable any ad blocker or privacy extension for gscaddie.com and refresh. These sometimes block the check from loading.
  3. On a locked-down work or corporate network, try a different network or your phone's hotspot.

Your password is not the problem here. This message means the check itself could not complete, so nothing was submitted.
