How your shots reach the dashboard

GSCaddie reads what GSPro records on your sim PC and turns it into analytics. No network traffic intercept, no launch-monitor driver, no modifications to GSPro. Here is the sequence from swing to dashboard.

1. You hit a shot

Your launch monitor feeds GSPro, and GSPro records the shot on your sim PC: the ball flight (ball speed, launch angle, carry, spin, dispersion) plus the round context (hole, par, shot number, surface, distance to the flag, and the shots so far).

2. GSCaddie picks it up

GSCaddie running on your sim PC notices the new shot within a second or two and reads it. Auto-putts and gimmes come through too, even though no launch monitor fires for them, so they arrive without ball-flight data.

3. GSCaddie builds the shot

GSCaddie combines the ball flight and the round context into a single shot and attributes it to the right player. Club name is inferred from your declared bag and a physics-based scorer. Each shot is uploaded to your account; uploads are idempotent, so the same shot is never double-counted.

4. The dashboard updates

Within a few seconds of a shot landing, the tray status line shows the result. The web dashboard's Live page updates without a refresh. Other pages (Rounds, Clubs, Insights) update the next time you open them.

5. After the round: GSPro Portal sync enriches the data

When the round ends, the tray runs an after-round portal sync a short delay later, giving GSPro time to upload the round to the portal. The sync pulls in richer club-delivery data that is not available on your sim PC alone:

  • Club delivery: club speed, club path, angle of attack, face-to-path, face-to-target
  • Descent angle, offline distance, peak height
  • Confirmed final score and tee/course rating/slope (used for the WHS handicap baseline)

For ball and launch metrics present in both sources, your live local reading takes precedence and the portal value only fills gaps.

Portal sync runs automatically after each round. You can also trigger it manually from the tray menu with "Sync recent rounds from portal".

What can delay a shot

  • A moment of lag. Data can arrive a second or two after impact. GSCaddie catches shots that landed without ball-flight data and fills them in on the next pass.
  • First install. GSCaddie ignores shots hit before it was installed, so they are not ingested as blank rows.
  • Paused. If you paused GSCaddie from the tray menu, nothing ingests until you resume.
  • Auth expired. GSCaddie stops uploading on an auth error and the tray shows "Sign-in expired". Shots resume uploading once you re-authenticate.
