Rounds and Round Overview

The Rounds section covers three related views: the rounds list, the Round Overview for a scored course round, and the per-shot detail timeline (also used as the practice session overview).

Rounds list (/rounds)

Summary strip

At the top, a summary of everything in your history: total sessions, course rounds, range sessions, your best score (by to-par, not gross strokes so a 9-hole round can't beat a better 18), best SG total, and SG average for your last 10 course rounds with a directional arrow compared to the prior 10.

Filter and sort bar

Filters:

  • All / Course / Range (round type)
  • Synced / Not synced (whether the round has portal sync data)
  • Date window: all time / last 30 days / last 90 days / last year

Sort options: newest, oldest, best SG, best score.

Counts are shown on each filter chip. Switching filters and date windows combines (they stack).

Rounds table

Each row in the table shows:

  • Course name and player name
  • Badges: Course/Range, Synced/Not synced for course rounds, and Excluded on any round you have removed from analytics (it stays listed and still shows its own score, but feeds no aggregate)
  • Verdict: a one-line read on the session, for example "Hot putter" or "Three-putt heavy." Only shown when something stands out.
  • Date (relative + absolute on hover)
  • Score: gross strokes and to-par, colored green at even or better, amber for moderate over, and left uncolored for worse. Practice sessions show no score.
  • SG total with a 3-segment mini bar (off tee / approach / around green) showing directional tone per category. Putting is excluded from the SG breakdown.
  • Fairway % and GIR %
  • Avg putts per hole
  • Shot count

Clicking any row takes you to that round's detail. Course rounds go to the Round Overview; practice rounds go to the practice session cockpit.

Round Overview (/rounds/:id) - course rounds

The Round Overview is only meaningful for live course rounds with hole data. Portal-backfilled rounds and rounds without par information show a reduced view explaining what is and isn't available.

Header

Course name, date, total strokes and to-par, SG total, birdies or better count, doubles or worse count, and how many holes were played. A "Portal backfill" badge appears on rounds imported from the GSPro portal. A Round Options menu sits at the top right (see "Round Options" below). When a round is excluded from analytics, an EXCLUDED chip and a short note appear here too.

Key rates strip

Six headline rates across the round: fairways hit (fraction + count), GIR (fraction + count), scramble percentage, average putts per hole (with per-hole range), 1-putt count, and 3-putt count.

Vs your average strip

Compares this round to your personal baseline: your average across all other course rounds. Shown only when you have at least 2 prior rounds to compare against. Metrics: score to par, fairway %, GIR %, scramble %, avg putts, average driving distance, average approach proximity.

Scorecard and dossier (2 columns)

Left: scorecard table. Hole by hole. Each row shows par, strokes, score (birdie/bogey notation), fairway hit, GIR, putts, approach proximity, and SG for the hole. Rows are expandable to see the individual shots on that hole, with a toggle to exclude/include any shot from analytics.

Right: round dossier rail. Narrative stat block: miss direction (% left vs right), approach proximity, putting context (auto vs manual putting mode, putt counts), shape distribution, and start-line lean.

Club data section

Per-club stats for the round: shots, avg carry, spread (standard deviation), top ball speed, and club delivery metrics (club speed, attack angle, path, face to path, face to target) when the round has portal sync data. Also shows dominant shape per club.

Moment cards

Best shot and worst shot of the round, identified by highest and lowest strokes gained (swings only, not putts). Each card shows the SG value, club, final distance to the pin, lie, and a description of the context.

Data notes

Explains carry derivation, SG baseline source, and portal backfill behavior.

Round Options

A Round Options menu at the top right of the header holds two actions. The same menu, in the same spot, is on every round screen: the course Round Overview, its Shots page, and a practice session's overview.

  • Exclude from analytics keeps the round fully viewable and still listed (with an EXCLUDED badge), but removes it from every stat: club profiles, records, milestones, strokes-gained baselines, rounds played, and trends. It is reversible at any time by opening the menu again and choosing Include in analytics. Use it for a blow-up round, a session on a miscalibrated launch monitor, or a round you just want kept out of your numbers.
  • Delete this round is confirm-guarded and permanently removes the round and its shots from your history.

Share this round

Scored course rounds have a Share button in the header (hidden in the demo). It opens a panel with a live preview and three card formats:

  • Wide for link previews on Discord, Facebook, Reddit, and X
  • Square for an Instagram feed post
  • Story for an Instagram or phone story

The card shows the course, date, your score and to-par, your key rates (fairways, greens in reg., scrambling, putts per hole), a few highlights (longest drive, closest approach, top ball speed), and a short share link printed on the card itself.

Publishing creates a public page at gscaddie.com/s/.... Pasting that link into Discord, Facebook, Reddit, or X unfurls it into the wide card automatically. From the panel you can copy the link, share the image straight to another app (on devices that support it), or download any format as a PNG. Anyone with the link can open the public page, which shows the card plus a short intro for people who do not use GSCaddie yet. You can delete a share you created; a screen for managing your shares is coming.

Practice session overview (/rounds/:id/shots for range sessions)

Clicking a range session from the rounds list opens the practice cockpit.

Header

"Range session" with date, duration, and launch monitor. Three hero stats: shots hit, top ball speed (with club), longest carry (with club).

Trend strip

Two signals: a warming-up/cooling-down trend (whether ball speed increased or decreased from your first to last shots, calculated as a slope) and gap alerts (adjacent clubs in the bag where the carry gap is wider than typical).

Clubs table and bests (2 columns)

Left: clubs table. Per-club (excluding putter): shots, avg carry, spread (σ), top ball speed, consistency score, dominant shape. Sorted by carry descending.

Right column:

  • Bests card: top ball speed, longest carry, best smash factor, tightest cluster (lowest carry σ across clubs with ≥5 shots).
  • Session shape card: overall shape breakdown for the session (shown when there are ≥5 swings).
  • Pace card: session duration, shots per minute, longest break, average time between shots.

Shot feed

Filter chips at the top (All + per club). The feed below shows every shot in the session, newest first: shot index, relative time, club, ball speed, carry, total, launch angle, spin, and shot shape.

Course round shot timeline (/rounds/:id/shots for course rounds)

A simpler layout than the practice cockpit. Three stat tiles at the top (total shots, avg ball speed, top ball speed), then shots grouped by hole. Each hole shows the par and shot count, then a row per shot: shot number, club, ball speed, launch angle, spin, surface (start and end), and total distance. Clicking any shot opens the full Shot Detail page.
